If you’re planning a visit to the Canadian province of Ontario this year, you’ll definitely want to make a detailed list of to-do things.
There is no shortage of social events, recreational activities, historical sites and traditions to experience when you come to Canada’s most populated province. You simply will not be disappointed with a vacation to “The Loyalist Province”.
Here is a list of some of the top activities and locations to put atop your travel list for a trip to Ontario.
Visit Niagara Falls
Nature lovers and travelers of all sorts definitely need to check out Niagara Falls during their visit to Ontario.
According to Niagara Falls Tourism, about 12 million people visit this prestigious location annually. The beautiful waterfalls stretch from southern Ontario to Western New York near Buffalo.
Niagara Falls is made up of three different waterfalls the Horseshoe Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and the American Falls. You can enjoy tours in different ways, including boating, a cruise, or your own helicopter tour.
There are so many recreational activities and sights to enjoy around the falls, including ziplining, the Niagara SkyWheel, the Butterfly Conservatory, Clifton Hill, and the Bird Kingdom.
Niagara Falls is also home to many of the province’s top-rated hotels, including the Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview Hotel & Suites, the Sheraton Fallsview, the Sterling Inn & Spa, and the Fallsview Casino Resort.
Online Betting, Casinos & Sporting Events
In addition to featuring Ontario online casinos, the city offers a diverse range of activities that cater to people of all ages and interests.
In April 2022, the province of Ontario officially launched licensed sports betting. This allows customers to enjoy the entertainment of both in-person and mobile/online sports betting and casino games.
Through these betting apps and online casinos, you can play your favorite games, such as poker, blackjack, slots (thousands of different games), and roulette.
The NHL’s Maple Leafs are in the postseason for the seventh straight year. They have already locked down a first-round matchup with the defending Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay Lightning for the second straight year.
With the Leafs trying to avenge last year’s heartbreaking seven-game series defeat, you can bet the Scotiabank Arena will be rocking again when Toronto welcomes Steven Stamkos and company to The Six.
Toronto is also aiming to win their first postseason series since 2004, and this year’s star-studded group has the pieces in place to go on a deep playoff run. So if you’re in or near the city during the playoff run, try to attend one of the games or even check out one of the province’s many watch parties.
The Leafs aren’t the only exciting team to follow in town. The Toronto Blue Jays finally came home for their season opener against the Detroit Tigers on Apr. 11, and this year’s group also looks ready for a deep postseason run.
Led by stars Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer, Bo Bichette and Alek Manoah, the Blue Jays have one of baseball’s deepest rosters and should be a favorite to win the World Series.
The Jays will play home games in the regular season through Oct. 1, so there’s plenty of time for you to check out a ballgame at the recently-renovated Rogers Centre.
The CFL’s Toronto Argonauts will look to defend their Grey Cup championship when they kick off their season against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on June 18. The Argos play their home games at BMO Field, only a 15-minute drive from Rogers Centre.
And, of course, Toronto FC of Major League Soccer is trying to rebound from a sluggish start to the season. BMO Field is always rocking on game day, and they’ll continue to play home games through.
Even when the Leafs’ season ends, there will be plenty of sports to enjoy in Toronto throughout the summer: The Jays, Argonauts and Toronto FC.
